Course Objective Students are expected to have knowledge about basic heavy -though machine production materials.
Course Content Introduction to materials science and engineering. Classification of engineering materials. Materials testing for determining of mechanical properties. The iron- iron carbide phase diagrams. Steel materials. Properties and using areas of aluminium. Properties and using areas of copper. Ceramics and their using areas in textile industry. Composites and their using areas in textile industry.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be inform about; 1) Crystal structure, and also inner structure of materials, 2) Cause of becoming corrosion and preventing corrosion 3) Destructive and non destructive testing of materials 4) Iron-Carbon phase diagrams to be informed about the results bring. 5) Heat treatments of steels and its effects 6) Alloying elements and impurities of steels 7) Classifications and properties of steels 8) Short designation and materials number of steels and their alloys in EN standard 9) Classification, short designation and materials number of cast irons 10) Aluminium and copper and their alloys in EN standard
