COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree

Course Objective Students are expected to learn contents of textile engineering education and general knowledge of textile processes. Students are expected to acquire general information about basic textile materials, production processes, and textile sector in Turkey and in the world.
Course Content Introduction to textiles. Classification of textile fibers. Physical properties of textile fibers. Introduction to yarn production. Yarn numbering systems. Twist and strength properties of yarns. Weaving preparation. Weaving process and basic movements of weaving. Knitting introduction and basic knit structures. Dyeing and finishing. Apparel processes. Testing of textiles.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Defines and explains basic terms and working areas of the textile engineering proffession, overview of the textile sector in the world and our country.
2Defines and explains general information about fibers used in textile.
3Defines and explains general information about yarn technologies
4Defines and explains general information about weaving technology, production methods and woven fabric patterns
5Defines and explains general information about knitting technology, production methods and knitted fabric patterns.
6Defines and explains general information about textile finishing processes.
7Defines and explains general information about physical and chemical testing methods.
8Defines and explains general information about clothing and garment company departments and works performed in these departments.
9Defines and explains general information about care symbols, IUPAC symbols, and recycling symbols used in textile.
10Defines and explains general information about new subjects and new products in textile sector.
11Explains physical properties of fibers used commonly.
12Designs traditional and specific end-use textile product.
13Generates fabric at basic weaving pattern.
14Generates fabric at basic knitting pattern.
