COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree

Course Objective The aim of this course is to give an introduction about the inner and outer architecture of different microprocessors, interfacing microprocessor systems, memory management, input/output organisation of microprocessor systems, introduction to assembly language using 8086 instruction codes.
Course Content Introduction to computers, microprocessors and microcontrollers, different microprocessor types, Introduction to Intel X86 architecture. Introduction to Cisc and Risc architecture. Introduction to the inner and outer structure of RAM and ROM memory types. Introduction to the inner /outer architecture of microprocessors and their pin functions. Introduction to memory management and memory system design. Solving different memory system design problems for microprocessor systems. Input/output organisation and design for microprocessor systems. Addressing modes of 8086 microprocessor. Calculation of base and physical addresses using addressing modes for memory organisation. Introduction to assembly programming using 8086 instruction set. Solving different microprocessor interfacing and system design problems, developing system programs for managing microprocessor systems using the 8086 instruction set.
