Course Objective The purpose of the course is to teach the importance of energy economy cources and problems related to energy and environment, provide information about thermal power plants and their design principles, energy conversion systems and various types of energy sources such as solar energy, nuclear energy, biomass energy, wind energy, etc.
Course Content Aims of energy engineering and fields of interest. Energy and energy economy. Economical and environmental analyses of energy conversion systems. Thermal power plants with steam, gas and steam-gas cycles. Cycle analysis, synthesis and optimisation of thermal power plant design. Fossil fuels, combustion and steam production systems. Nuclear fuels, nuclear reactions and nuclear power plants. Solar energy and applications. Building elements of thermal power plants and operational problems.
