Course Objective Students are expected to have basic and technical knowledge about fatigue failure and cracks in machine elements, and also the calculations of the fatigue failure.
Course Content General introduction of fatigue and cracks, The S/N curve, P/S/N curves, Effects of mean stress, Effect of stress concentrations, Cumulative damage, Cycle Stress-Strain, Combating Fating, Slip bands and fatigue, Fatigue Crack growth and its measurements.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
11 – To be informed about the fatigue fractures, 2 – Determination of fatigue strength, duration fatigue strength, fatigue life, operation and the types of strain, 3 - To make calculation of fatigue strength for machine elements, 4 – To learn the effect of size, surface and cross-sectional form to fatigue strength and also the effect of impact in strain,
25 – To learn the selection and determination of safety factor in fatigue strain, to have knowledge about sizing of machine parts under fatigue forces by helping operation strength tests, 6 – To learn calculation method of duration fatigue strength, over-loading effect to fatigue strength, calculation of fatigue strength under combined stresses, 7 – To make numerical problem solutions about fatigue strength calculation.
