MENG 472COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS – II2 + 08th Semester3,5

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective Understand how to model fluid flow problems and to solve them numerically with appropriate boundary and initial conditions. In the second stage of the series of CFD courses, numerical applications using commercial CFD codes will be done.
Course Content • Some benchmark cases of CFD: Lid-driven cavity flow, flow over bumps, etc. • Numerical experiments for the specified cases. • Some old and new techniques of CFD. Artificial compressibility, immersed boundary techniques.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students pursuing the course will be able to • Model fluid flow problems, • Learn how to classify and discretize partial differential equations, • Learn imposing correct boundary conditions of fluid dynamics numerically, • Learn iterative solution techniques of linear and non-linear algebraic equations, • Learn turbulence modeling.
