Course Objective Mechanic properties of metals can be chanced with heat treatment. Heat treatment processes are applied on a lot of machine parts. Heat treatment processes have machine parts properties chanced so mechanical engineer have to know heat treatment processes.
Course Content Iron-carbon phase diagram and microstructures, Steel phase reactions and mechanic properties of microstructures, Effect of residual elements and alloying elements on steel properties, Annealing technique of steels, Quenching technique of steels, Heating and cooling techniques, Design techniques of hardened machine parts, Tempering, austempering and martempering of steels, Surface hardening techniques, Heat treatment of tool steels, Heat treatment of cast irons, Heat treatment of nonferrous metals.
