Course Objective
To introduce the properties of construction materials. To introduce the basic principles of choosing the groper materials for different constructions. To compute the cost of construction materials for different uses. To provide basic knowledge about experiments to help choose the right material different applications.
Course Content
The importance of costruction materials, classification, and general properties. The compression and tension experiments and of stress and strain relationships. The kinds and properties of aggregates, density, granulometry, fineness modulus, the experiments of wearing resistance, types, properties and mechanical strength of binder materials. The properties of concrete, the factors effecting strength, classification, mixture calculations, the standarts of production and maintenance of concrete, quality controls, concrete admixtures and its effects on strength, consistency experiments for fresh concrete, destructive and nondestructive testing of concrete strength.
