Course Objective The aim of the course is to provide students with the fundamental concepts, functions, techniques and theories of money and monetary policy and their applications in practice.
Course Content The course analyzes the relationships among the money, banking and financial market, the determinants of interest rate and role of the interest rate in an economy, the structure of financial system, banking industry, the stock market, rational expectations, and government responses to crisis in the financial markets.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Describe the functions of money, banking and financial system in an economy
2Analyze the behavior of the interest rate
3Identify the reasons of a change in interest rates and consequences of the change on the economy.
4Use the theory of portfolio allocation and Risk Structure and Term Structure of Interest Rates for a profit-maximizing portfolio.
5Explain the stock market and the theory of rational expectation and efficient market hypothesis.
6Identify the sources of crisis and discuss possible financial regulations to get the economy out of the crisis
7Derive strategies and policy implications for an economy
8Analyze the banking industry and financial institutions.
