COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The purpose of this course is to have students gain the foundation level of knowledge and skills in the field of media literacy, to let them get attentive to the media-related issues in their context and in the World, and to view the connection between media and the issues counselors face in the field.
Course Content Basic concepts, historical development of media literacy, scope of media literacy, related theories, media and education relations, media and counseling relations, medium and products, ways of influencing people, commercial motivations of media, advertising and propaganda, prejudices and stereotypes fed by media.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
