Course Objective The students will be able to; a. Demonstrate advanced knowledge in contemporary approaches to marriage and families. b. Use a variety of perspective in conceptualizing marriage and family issues. c. Demonstrate advanced understanding and critical approach to postmodern approaches to marriage and family counseling.
Course Content The course involves issues beyond traditional theories and practices in marriage and family counseling. It deals with legal, ethical and multicultural issues, criteria for training in marriage and family counseling, utilization of a developmental view in the lives of couples and families, change in families and couples, counselor attitudes and biases about marriage, romantic relationships and family, feminist views on issues of couples and families, and implications of changes in the global world for marriage and family counseling.
