COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of this course is help students to gain a perspective about construct of psychological testing, the stages of development, how the tests are being used and evaluated.
Course Content What is a test? How did testing develop? How are tests used? How are tests evaluated? Statistical concepts: scale measurement, frequency distribution, Measures of central tendency, standard scores, percentiles and norms. Correlation; Pearson Product-Moment Correlation. Reliability; definition of reliability; different methods of reliability; standard error measurement; evaluation of reliability. Validity: definition of validity; strategies for validating a test; types of validity.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

1Students will be able to comprehend construct and usage of psychological tests.

5Students will be able to define basic statistical methods which are used in evaluation of psychological tests.
6Students will be able to know the concepts of reliability and validity.
7Students will be able to recognize general intelligence tests, achievement tests and interest inventories
8Students will be able to recognize general intellectual development and different types of intelligence tests.
9Students will be able to recognize the types of different personality tests.
10Students will be able to select a test for a specific purpose.
11Students will be able to investigate the reliability and validity of psychological tests in various methods.
