Course Objective The aim of this course is to gain fundamental concepts and skills necessary to understand a child’s physical, psychological and social development. Major theories of development and the factors affecting the development process will be discussed.
Course Content Development Psychology: Principles, history and techniques Biological bases of development Prenatal development Physical and sensory development Cognitive and language development Gender development Social development Theories of personality development Moral development .

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To gain basic knowledge and understanding about human development
2To learn about the scientific techniques used to study human development and to be able to critically analyze basic scientific research regarding development
3To learn about the physical, psychological, cognitive and social changes take places during development
4To understand the complex structure of the factors affecting human development
5To be able to analyze an individual’s developmental level based on gained knowledge and understanding and to be able to produce solutions for basic developmental problems
