Course Objective The aim of this course is to provide for each student a basic insight about effective counseling process and theories. It includes informations on counseling: theories, definitions, references, objectives and purpose, roles and responsibilities, and scenarios illustrating key steps in the counseling process.
Course Content Need of Theory in Counseling, Personal Characteristics of Effective Counselor, Ethic issues in Counseling Practice, Psychoanalytic Counseling, Adlerian Counseling, Existential Counseling, Person-Centered Counseling, Gestalt Counseling, Behavioral Counseling, Cognitive Approaches.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to comprehend characteristics and values of a counselor
2To be able to know basic problems in counseling practice
3To be able to generate and apply alternative solutions to the problems
4To be able to know major concepts and therapeutic techniques and procedures of counseling theories
5To be able to know strengths and limitations of counseling theories
6To be able to understand each counseling theory as having a cultural perspective and ability to evaluate each theory in terms of its application to diverse populations
7To be able to ability to consider and integrated cultural diversity in both the conceptualization of the clients’ concerns and in the therapeutic interventions used to assist the client
8To be able to evaluate and critique counseling theories
