Course Objective Recognition of textile materials and weaving types in general terms. To have knowledge about traditional and modern weaving. To learn visual design methods and approaches used in textiles and to make printing applications. To understand and evaluate the place of textile in daily life.
Course Content Fabric is an indispensable material suitable for design in all processes from production to consumption. Accordingly, Textile Design education consists of two stages. The first stage includes the fabric surface and weaving information as material. Depending on the fiber structure and yarn technology or independently, the diversity offered by weaving is utilized. Traditional and modern weaving designs are exemplified at this stage. The second stage includes the graphic design process applied to the fabric surface. Two-dimensional decorative painting, abstraction and stylization works are shown and applied with traditional and digital methods. At this stage, printing and dyeing technology information is given. At the end of the semester, the relationship between textile design and fashion is discussed and project applications are made.
