COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To be able to recognize painting theory and conceptions. To be able to gain visual and cultural information and ability about how to analyze a work of art as period, technical and content. To be able to have an original style by experiencing different techniques and materials and analyzing works of art.
Course Content This course introduces basic painting conceptions and theories. Students therefore, can analyze a painting in terms of its period, technique, and context and have the ability to comprehend the art work visually and culturally. Students also practice different techniques and materials so that they can compare their art work to masters’ works in order to find their individual voices and styles. That approach will enable students to perceive the art works as a unique way of expression. In addition to this, students are required to relate their work to different disciplines and contemporary art practices. Within the possibilities of students, bianel, fair, exhibition etc. it is advisable to visit places. In addition, students are required to learn about exhibition methods, process, presentation techniques and portfolio preparation, apply these knowledge and comply with ethical rules in all processes.
