COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of this course is to raise awareness of social studies teacher candidates about 21st century skills and values, and to work towards gaining skills and values in the social studies curriculum.
Course Content In this course, research, digital literacy, environmental literacy, change and continuity, empathy, critical thinking, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, observation, map literacy, observation, legal literacy, communication, collaboration, recognizing stereotypes and prejudices, using evidence, making decisions skills such as location analysis, media literacy, perception of space, self-control, political literacy, problem solving, social participation, reading charts, using Turkish correctly, innovative thinking, perceiving time and chronology, and justice, family unity, independence, peace, and Values such as being scientific, industrious, solidarity, sensitivity, honesty, aesthetics, equality, freedom, respect, love, responsibility, savings, patriotism, benevolence will be discussed. In addition, strategies for these skills and values will be put into practice through classroom activities with sample acquisitions from the social studies curriculum.
