Course Objective The aim of this course is to have students grasp political, social, cultural and economic change and development that have occured in these fields from the declaration of the Republic of Turkey to 1950.
Course Content Announcement of the republic in Turkey, Turkish and World public opinion, Political parties founded in the period of Turkish Republic and Republic People Party (CHP), The first transition to multi-party life experiment in Turkey and its results, Assassination attempt to Atatürk and its results, The second transition to multi-party life experiment in Turkey and results, Menemen rebellion and it’s results, Turkish foreign policy in the priod of Atatürk (1923-1932), Turkish foreign policy in the period of Atatürk (1932-1938), İsmet İnönü’s presidency in Turkey and the efforts done, Domestic politics in Turkey in World War II, Turkey’s foreign policy in World War II, The end of the World War II and transition to multi-party life in Turkey, The foundation of the Democratic Party and come to power.

1Students know everything that happened in the process from the establishment of the Republic of Turkey to 1950 in a holistic way.
2Students know Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, and understand his importance to the Turkish nation.
3Students know the historical developments after Gazi Mutafa Kemal Atatürk.
4Students understand the place and importance of people and institutions that have a place in the establishment and development of the Republic.
5Students become aware of the reflections of the subjects they have learned on to the present day.
6Students can make forward-looking predictions based on what they have learned.
