Course Objective The purpose of this course is to have students grasp the formation of the contemporary world to date, the affecting actors, especially the cold war period (1945-1991) and its aftermath.
Course Content The World War II, The World War II and Turkey, After World War II developments and the foundation of blocs, National independence movements, the foundation of new national state and the end of colonialism, The World after World War II, The foundation of Israel State and, the question of Palestine and Arabian-Israel wars, Turkey’s joining the west bloc and NATO, Korean War and Turkey, The Cyprus question and World, Allegations of the so-called Armenian Genocide and the World, The world and the disintegration of the Soviet Union, The disintegration of the Soviet Union and the Republic of Turkish, U.S. policy and the world after the September 11th terrorist attack
