Course Objective 1. This course aims to give general information to the students about the concept of globalization and the factors that play a role in the emergence of globalization. 2. It aims to analyze the effects of global powers on our world and our country by taking the present situation of globalization into consideration. 3. Current examples will be given on how globalization reshapes countries and regions based on military, political, economic and cultural aspects. 4. The situation of our country in the face of globalization, the concepts such as pluralism and multiculturalism (and their place in social studies) and how to contribute to the development of different perspectives of students on how multicultural education practices can be used constructively and beneficially for our country.
Course Content The effects of globalization and Turkey; developments that took place in the last century in the world; changes on the environment; military and economic unions; the effects of globalization on least developed countries; Turkey's status against globalization; concepts such as pluralism and multiculturalism (and their place in teaching social studies) and multicultural education practices.
