Course Objective Evaluating the factors that have created modern society, individual and state within the framework of political, social, cultural, intellectual and scientific developments in Europe, Asia and Africa in the period from 15th to 20th century and thus to be able to comprehend the place and dynamics of Western civilization
Course Content Geographical discoveries in Europe and the world in the second half of the 15th century; Renaissance and Reform, Enlightenment, American War of Independence and the foundation of the United States; Important developments in the continents of South America, Asia and Africa; French Revolution; Political, economic, cultural and social developments in the Turkish world outside the Ottoman Empire.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to evaluate the political, social, economic, cultural, intellectual, scientific and religious situation of 15th century Europe
2To be able to evaluate the major political, social, economic, scientific and intellectual transformations (geographical discoveries, reform, Renaissance, enlightenment) in Europe since the 15th century
3To be able to recognize the scientists and intellectuals who brought Europe to the age of enlightenment.
4To be able to discuss the causes and consequences of the industrial revolution
5To be able to evaluate the process of colonialism and the emergence of the US.
6To explain the political, social, intellectual and economic reasons of the French Revolution
7To be able to evaluate the results of the French Revolution, 1830 and 1848 revolutions.
8Discuss the effects of the French Revolution on the Ottoman Empire
9To be able to evaluate the developments in the Turkish world outside the Ottoman Empire in the New Age
10To be able to evaluate the developments in the Turkish world outside the Ottoman Empire in the Near Age
