Course Objective To evaluate the contribution of Turk-Islam states to the history of civilization by revealing the origins of the Islamic civilization, the introduction of the Turks into Islam and the cultural elements such as science, art, education, thought, economy, city, literature and aesthetics of Turkish-Islamic civilization shaped by this process.
Course Content The birth of Islam and the period of four caliphs; Arab-Islamic states; Islamic civilization (contributing of Arab-Turkish-Persian cultures to Islamic civilization); science, art, education, thought, economy, city and aesthetics in Islamic civilization, (science and thought centers like Beytül Hikme, scientists and their works, examples of material civilization elements); a short political history of Turkish-Islamic states; culture and civilization in the first Turkish Islamic states; Science, art, education, thought, economy, city and aesthetics in the Turkish Islamic civilization, (examples of pre-eminent world leaders in science, language, literature and idea as Yusuf Has Hacip, Kashgarli Mahmut and Ahmet Yesevi and their works, examples of material civilization elements)

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to explain the geographical, political, social, economic, cultural and intellectual bases of the emergence of Islam
2To be able to express the political and cultural processes of Islamic history of the four Caliphate periods
3To be able to explain the dynamics of the nature and spread of the Islamic civilizations in Umayyad and Abbasid Period
4To be able to analyze the reasons why Turks entered Islam and the political and cultural consequences of Arab and Persian cultures
5To be able to evaluate the emergence and development of the first Turkish-Islamic states, dimensions of its geographical and interstate relations
6To be able to explain the effects of pre-Islamic Turkish culture on Turkish states of Islamic period
7To be able to explain the basics of state structure and philosophy in the first Turkish Islamic States
8To be able to explain the development of culture and civilization (science, art, education, thought, economy, city and aesthetics) during the first Turkish-Islamic states
9To be able to explain the historical significance of the leading names of Turkish science and thought in the period of the first Turkish-Islamic states
10To be able to evaluate the contributions of the Turks to the common civilization of the humanity during the period of Turkish Islamic state
