Course Objective To introduce the meaning of social studies, reasons for reading as a course, historical, philosophical and educational bases to social science teacher candidates.
Course Content Social sciences and social studies concepts; knowledge in social sciences; basic concepts of social sciences; major social sciences and their relations; historical development of social studies; the role of social sciences in the development of social studies programs; philosophical, educational and historical foundations of social studies teaching; social studies traditions.
