COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective During the course, students learn effects of educative toys and tools or materials on social, emotional, psycho motor, and physical, cognitive, language, personality, moral and sexual development of children, choosing creative products or toys using for stimulating different abilities and creativity of children in the direction of children’s interest, kinds of toys and materials, properties of play areas, toys, tools and materials for children, preparing materials and toys for different developmental areas and different age groups, how materials and toys are used for enriching curriculum. .
Course Content Developing instructional materials according to the needs and the level of the children (puppet, stuffing toys, puzzle etc.) designing, making and evaluating the materials specific for the field of early childhood education.

1explains the characteristics of toys and materials used in preschool environments
2defines educational toys and materials that are appropriate young children’s developmental level, interests and needs
3makes educational toys and materials that are appropriate young children’s developmental level, interests and needs
4makes educational toys and materials for children with different needs (such as children with special needs)
5prepares materials by using different media, such as junk art and paper work techniques in order to enrich educational environments
6prepares toys and materials supporting concept development
7uses these materials and toys in curriculum activities
