Course Objective This course covers cultural developments within English Literature from different socities throughout the Middle Ages focusing mainly on the British Isles from the fifth century to the thirteenth century . Students analyse the growth of institutions, civil, religious, educational and economical, which shaped both the medieval world and medieval English literature along with the medieval mind from a variety of political, historical, anthropological and literal perspectives.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Familiarises with the major works and major writers of the Medieval period.
2Focuses on the social, economic and political dimensions of the period
3Undertakes The Medieval English Literature Paper as a part of their study.
4Understands and analyses the Medieval works.
5Develops a certain awareness of critical reading using the texts of the Medieval period.
6Develop a certain awareness of critical reading using the texts of the Medieval period.
7Familiarizies with a variety of styles, genres and themes which have been historically influential in the English literary tradition in the Medieval ages
