Course Objective Providing a general perspective concerning the field of translation. Developing a consciousness of translation.Providing a passing from the transmission competence to the translation competence.Providing awarness concerning technical translation.Providing awarness concerning written translation.
Course Content This course is based on practice and theory. Different theoretical subjects affecting the options of translation will be taken into consideration and it will be focused on different translation strategies and specific techniques.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Uses the grammatical, verbal and semantic structures of the source and target languages.
2Defines the social, geographical, historical and stylistic changes’ function and meanings of language.
3Understands and analyzes the small and large scaled structures, alliance, social and cultural functions of the different type of texts related to the source and target languages and being able to create such texts.
4Understands the texts in source language and transfers these texts to the target language by using the cross-language fitting with the meanings and functions of these texts.
5Uses the present technologies such as translation memories, online sources, term banks, spelling and grammar check, internet, terminology data base effectively during all the phases of translation and follows the developments in this field.
6Defines phases and strategies, the difficulties concerning translation, and finds solutions concerning these difficulties
7Acquires necessary sources required during the translation process and incorporates them effectively into the translation process.
8Is equipped with the ability of life-long learning.
