Course Objective The situation in education before and after adopting Islam by Turks, formation of educational institutions during the modernization period, education of minorities and foreigners, effects of missioner activities on education, dimensions of Turkish education before the unification of education (Tevhid-i Tedrisat) will be taught.
Course Content The aim of this course is to teach students the common features of Turkish education before accepting Islam, education understandings of Turk-Islamic intellectuals and their influences on education, educational movements in Seljuks and Ottomans, and attempts of reform movements in Ottoman education system, Unification of education (tevhid-i tedrisat) and education in republic period. .
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
