COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Type Compulsory
Course Objective Develop relevant knowledge and skills in Ottoman Turkish.
Course Content Arabic elements in Ottoman Turkish, the structures of Arabic words, the concepts of main and secondary phonemes, absolute sülasi infinitives, finding the prosody, samples, derivation (müştak) studies, comparative (kıyasî) infinitives, sample words of several prosodies. İlm-i fail and ism-i mef’ul studies. Plurality in Arabic, the structures of Persian words, negation types in Persian, prefixes and suffixes in Persian, reading sample texts and writing. Terkip in Ottoman Turkish. Arabic subordination. Persian subordination. Noun and adjective clauses and translation into modern Turkish. Transcription studies through texts. Exercises to read fast. Derivation from Arabic and Persian words. Handwriting studies.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1At least 600 years of Turkish language, culture and literature, learning the alphabet is written and gain the ability to read texts written alphabet.
2To be able to understand texts written in Ottoman alphabet to earn accumulation.
3Establishing direct contact with texts written in Ottoman Turkish alphabet, literature and culture of the size, wealth consciousness reach to comprehend.
