Course Objective To provide information about the techniques for the conservationof organic and inorganic materials obtained from underwater excavations.
Course Content The process of examination, removal, conservation, restoration and reconstruction of submerged wood residues of shipwrecks, especially from underwater and wet land settlements, requires a special knowledge and a series of applications. Also; the process of conservation of organic residues such as leather, bone, ivory and rope, which were found to be wet again, became a specialty in itself. Metal artifacts, especially in the underwater iron objects require a very different recovery from iron finds recovered from land sites in terms of both deterioration process and protection and restoration works. Wit the frame of this calss preventetive conservation techniques will be evaluated.
