Course Objective The aim of this course is to equip studentswith the basic concepts and principles of biochemistry by providing a complete introduction of modern biochemistry.
Course Content the effects of water and the pH on cellular activities, the chemistry of amino acid and its derivatives, the isolation and identification methods, the primary, secondary, tertiary, and quarterner structures of proteins, determination of protein structures and reviews their biochemical applications, nucleosides and nucleotides, the structure of DNA and RNA, the characteristics of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids, the properties of enzymes, biological compounds in cellular metabolism, the biological oxidation, chemical binding, phosphorylation, ATP and NADPH, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, nitrogen and urea cycle, amino acid and nucleotide metabolism and photosynthesis.
