COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of course is defining the art products are processed in the countries that have embraced Islam. Aims to explain the architectural samples such as mosques, khans, baths, palaces, defensive structures, etc. built in the period of Umayyads (who captured the political will after the Abbasid dynasty) and Umayyads of Andalusia (who established an independent state in Spain) with their planning features and decorations in detail.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to summarize the collapse of the Ummayyads and the foundation of the Ummayads of Andalucia-Spain.
2Will be able to define the Mosque of Cordoba and the Palace of Al-Caferiye at Zaragoza.
3Will be able to explain the plan and photos of the Palace of Madinatu’z-Zahra.Will be able to explain the plan and photos of the Palace of Madinatu’z-Zahra and the Mosque of Cordoba and their importance in Islamic Architecture.
4Will be able to express the general compositions of Early Islamic and the Ummayyad coins with the examples.
5Will be able to summarize the Abbasid History. Will be able to define and compare the features of the Great Mosque of Samarra.
6Will be able to describe and compare the mosques of Abu Dulef at Samarra and Tolunoglu Ahmed at Cairo.
7Will be able to define and classify the plans, material and ornamentation programs of Tarıhane at Damgan and the Mosque of Nayin.
8Will be able to have detailed information about the Palace of Uhaydir.Will be able to explain the features of the plans, material and ornamentation programs in the Palaces of Balkuwara and Cevsak’al-Hakani.
9Will be able to define the features of the cities of Baghdad and Samarra. Will be able to have detailed information about the city of Raqqa.
10Will be able to define and classify the wooden art works of the Abbasids. Will be able to compare the ornamentation programs in ceramic, plaster, and metal works of the Abbasids.
11Will be able to evaluate the features of Abbasid art and architecture.
