Course Objective The aim of course is defining and understand the terms of architecture, painting, statue, ceramic, and ornamentation and the other terms related with the discipline of 
Course Content Historical monuments, their definations and various sections dwell on in art history will be teached. (Church, mosque, madrasa, public houses, tombs, baths, a covered bazaar, bazaars, palaces, bridges, caravansaray, pavilion, painting, sculpture, mosaic, etc. ).
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to understand the concept and discipline of Art History, and explore the subjects of its interest and the basic bibliographical resources.
2Will be able to have information about the architectural terms such as column, pillar, footing, dome, vault and arch.Will be able to define the terms of portico and iwan and compare the elements for transition to dome with examples.Will be able to know the terms such as baldachin, shed, apsis, atrium, exedra and half dome.Will be able to define the terms such as lintel, illumination window and compare the vault types.
3Will be able to describe the wall techniques in the historical structures. Will be able to define the wall terms timber construction with brick filling, wall made of lath and plaster, altarnate wall, and built of stone or brick.
4Will be able to define the terms such as bordure, molding, plaster, waterspout, pointing, spolia, and tile.

1 Sources about the course will be given and the concept of Art History and general content will be evaluated.
2 Columns, pillars, load-bearing paye-foot and over-head elements like arch, vault and cupola will be presented.
3 The terms of colonnade and iwan will be explained and similarities and differences will be compared. Moreover, cupola passage samples will be presented.
4 Structures or structural elements like baldachin, coving, apse, courtyard and head-cover elements like exedra and semi-dome will be presented.
5 by explaining lento and lightings lanterns types of vaults will be evaluated with similarities and differences.
6 The focus will be on the wall techniques in applied on the historical buildings. In this context, atlernate, bagdadi (timberwork), hımıs (logging) wall techniques and the history of masonry wall will be emphasized.
7 With the elements of frontal activation like kerb, moulding and plaster, the focus will be on the terms related to decoration like ceramics, gargoyle, grouts and collected materials.
8 By considering word nave, arch and its parts will be presented with illustrations.

11 Formulas for converting hijri calendar to the Gregorian calendar and vice versa will be given, according to this calculation, the method of calculation will be considered.
12 Terms related to architectural documentation like design, plan, section, restoration and survey will be presented.
13 The focus will be on building types. Architectural developments of buildings like namazgah, mosque, small mosque, social complex (külliye) in Turkish architecture will be presented in details.
14 Historical and architectural developments of buildings like Madrasah, DArülhadis, Darüşşifa, Darulhuffaz, Sıbyan Mektebi will be evaluated.
