Course Objective Archaeology is one of the main subjects of study aims to describe the function and meaning of ceramics. Ceramic construction techniques and skills for evaluating the stages of technological development is monitored through these techniques, Pottery, human cultural development, as the remains of material culture that reflects the needs and aesthetic tastes, sense the targets.
Course Content The progress of ceramic art, regional variations and styles will be told by presenting the ceramic production and terminology. Anatolian pottery will be evaluated from Neolithic until the end of Iron Age.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to describe the importance and the meaning of pottery which is a basic material in archaeology
2The ability to evaluate the pottery production techniques and the technological evolution drawn according to those techniques.
3The ability to distinguish and evaluate the working process of raw material, technological process and production phases on any pottery sherd collected by archaeological methods
4To be able to understand the importance of describing the paste, manufacturing techniques, cooking, surface, form and decoration of pottery samples within an archaeological research
5To have a basic knowledge about the chronological chart of Anatolia from Neolithic until the end of Bronze Age and the impacts of pottery to these chronological periods.
6To be able to assume pottery as a material which shows the cultural evolution, tastes and needs of humankind.
