COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective	During this lesson, archaeology of main cultural regions of Aegean will be evaluated starting from the Neolithic period. Western Anatolian, Minoan, Cycladic and Helladic cultures are developing related to each other especially in 3rd millennium BC afterwards.
Course Content	During this lesson, the social evaluation of cultures in Western Anatolia, Mainland Greece and Islands from the beginning until 2nd millennium BC will be evaluated. To be able to understand this process, the basic material of Aegean prehistory such as architecture, pottery, lithics and metal will be examined.
Prerequisites	No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite	No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

1	To recognize geography of Mainland Greece, Islands and Western Anatolia and to be aware of the impacts of geography to the formation of different cultures
2	To be able to have ideas about palaeolithic and mesolithic cultures of the Aeagean
3	To be able to make comments about neolitihization of the Aegean
4	To have a basic knowledge about Aegean chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age
5	To be aware of technological developments in Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age Aegean and to know the motivations beneath them
6	To be able to make comments on the ways to share new ideas between different regions of Aegean (trade, exchange, gifts, immigration)
7	To be able to use correctly the main concepts of prehistoric archaeology such as elite, luxury item, village, city, society, group, weapon, war, raw material, conflict.
