Course Objective The aim of course is defining and understand the terms of architecture, painting, statue, ceramic, and ornamentation and the other terms related with the discipline of Art History.
Course Content Historical monuments, their definations and various sections dwell on in art history will be teached. (Mosque, madrasa, public houses, tombs, baths, a covered bazaar, bazaars, palaces, bridges, caravansaray, pavilion, painting, sculpture, mosaic, etc. ).
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1An arch with drawings and the features in the parts will be able to define the terms.
2Turkish wfoundation system will be able to compare with the other foundations systems of different religions.Will be able to have detailed information about theconcepts of the waqf and waqfiya.
3the terms related with architectural will be able to define such as sketch, plan, section, architectural survey and restoration.
4present the building types will be able to define. the building types will be able to have detailed information about such as complex, mosque, masjid, and namazgah with their development processes. the educational buildings will be able to explain such as madrasa, dar’ul hadith, Dar’ush-Shifa, Dar’ul Huffaz, and Sıbyan Mektebi with their historical background and development processes.

Goals The aim of course is defining and understand the terms of architecture, painting, statue, ceramic, and ornamentation and the other terms related with the discipline of Art History.

1 Architectural and functional arrangements of tarikat buildings like dergah (dervish convent), hanikah will be compared and contrasted.
2 By explaining the terms of caravanserai, inn and ribat, their architectural development will be explained in details and in respect to periods.
3 Commercial buildings like market, bedesten and arasta (Ottoman bazaar) and cemetery buildings like mausoleum, cupola, akıt and hazire will be explained. Architectural similarities and regional distributions of those will be presented.
4 Specific and large buildings like palace, mansion, pavilion, castle and waterside residence will be introduced. Besides, mahfil types encountered in mosques will be presented.
5 Water buildings encountered in the world architecture will be introduced. Varied applications of buildings in different cultures will be evaluated. Also christian buildings like church, basilica and chapel will be emphasized.
6 Defense buildings like castle, fortified-wall, bastions etc. will be introduced accompanied by varied samples from world architecture.
7 Different decoration techniques from fresco, sigrafitto, malakari, inlaid to vitra will be introduced.
8 Three dimensional representations like figurin, sculpture, statue and those which contain symbolic meanings like life tree and corona together with plant motives like palmet, rumi, lotus etc. will be emphasized.
9 Textile and woven products like carpet, rug, zili, light rug and sumac will be introduced in accordance with their techniques.

11 Exedra, life, sofa parts in civilian buildings and last community place, mihrab, narthex, sanctum sanctorum, portal and sermon chair encountered in religious buildings elements will be presented with illustrations.
12 Plan types applied in religious buildings of Christian and Islamic architecture will be introduced with drawings.
13 Explanations concerning parts of mimbar, minaret, fountains and bridges will be shown in details on drawings.
14 Parts seen on pages and covers of hand manuscripts will be shown on drawing and also a general evaluation will be performed.
