Course Objective The foundation of palaces in Crete in 2dn millennium BC had a great effect on other Aegean cultures. Minoan civilization and foundation of the palaces, the impacts of new palatial system on neighbors, Mycenaean civilization which had influences all around Mediterranean concerning Crete are all part of this lesson’s subject. Following this outline, Western Anatolian civilizations according to Hittite sources and middle and late Bronze Age archaeology of western Anatolia will be evaluated.
Course Content The appearance of first Aegean palaces in the beginning of second millennium, the development and destruction of palatial system, Mycenaean culture following this period will be evaluated. The disappearance of Mycenaeans and the end of Bronze Age in the Aegean are also subjects fort his lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to investigate the impacts of Aegean geography to the foundation of first palaces
2To be able to analyze Cretan geography and its impacts to the foundation of first palaces
3To be able to learn the administrative system of palaces and the way it functions in a wide geographical area
4To have a general knowledge about Minoan art
5To be able to understand social and political processes which provokes the appearance of Mycenaean culture
6To be able to have a basic knowledge about Middle and Late Bronze Ages of Western Anatolia
7To be able to discuss about the impacts of Aegean prehistoric cultures on Classical Ages.
