COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of course defining the excavation techniques and materials use in excavations in terms of Art History.
Course Content In the course, excavation techniques and materials use in excavations will be defined in terms of Art History; the research methods will be defined in the historical sites and architectural monuments; how to do the dating will be explain according to period, style and circumstances of finds. In addition, drawing the situation of finds discovered in excavations, identification the stratigraphy of settlements as a result of excavation, drawings plans, conservation, and restoration techniques will be explain.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to recognize the examples of the 15th and 16th centuries Ottoman art and architecture.
2Will be able to explain thefeatures of Ottoman art and architecture during the reign of Sultan Murad II.
3Will be able to define the plans and ornamentations of the buildings at İznik and Bursa and Edirne during the reign of Sultan Murad II.
4Will be able to analyze the important architectural works and the historical events during the reign of Sultan Mehmed II.
5Will be able to evaluate the features of the plans and ornamentations on the buildings from the reign of Sultan Mehmed II at Bursa, Constantinople, Çanakkale and Edirne.
6Will be able to synthisize the buildings from the time of Sultan Mehmed II, out of todays Turkey.
