Course Objective	This course aims at introducing the Turkish World outside the Ottoman realm and investigate the connections between the Ottoman society and Russian Turks.
Course Content	Turkistan geography after Temur, Reforms in the Volga-Ural region Reforms in Crimea and Ismail Gaspirali and Tercuman newspaper, Reform in Northern Caucasus and Azerbaijan, Reform in Kazak and Kirghiz Tribes, Press in Russian Turks, Usul-i Cedid Schools, Abdurreshid Ibrahim and his activities, Russian Turks in 1905 Revolution, Ufa Convention (April 10-15, 1905), First, Second and Third Meetings of Russian Muslims, Muslim deputies in DUMA and their activities, Revival of nationalism among Russian Turks after 1905 (Musa Akyiğitzâde, Fatih Kerimî), First World War and Turkistan Turks, 1916 outbreaks and their results, Basmacilar Movement, 1917 Revolutions, First Convention of All Russian Muslims (1–11 Mayıs 1917), The Emergence USSR.
