Course Objective This course aims at analyzing the Ottoman State in its 19th century and afterwards, namely the political and military events.
Course Content 1798-1802 Ottoman-French War (Napoleonp-Egypt), Relations of Ottomans-British, Ottoman-French after the Egypt campaing of France, 1806-1812 Ottoman-Russian, British War, (The treaty of Bucharest), 1821-1823 Ottoman-Iranian War, 1828-1829 Ottoman-Russian War (The treaty of Edirne), The occupation of Algiers, Mehmet Ali Pasha rebellion and Egyption Question, The Straits Crisis and 1841 London Straits Treaty, Hungarian Refugees Question, War of Crimea and Paris Treaty, Serbian Rebellion, Mora Rebellion, Montenegro Outbreak, Wallachia-Moldavia Outbreak, Jiddah-Syria Events, Crete Rebellion, 1877-78 Ottoman-Russian War (The treaty of San Stefano and Berlin, Cyprus under British control, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tunis invasion, 1897 Ottoman-Greek War, Eastern Rumelia Question, Macedonian Question.
